Sharing about Xuelian Liangdian Dongsi Creative Park
Tewa Srilaklang, the founder of Liangdian Creative Park, executive director of LDPi (China Branch).
At the beginning of that event, Tewa talked about the design concept and realization process of Xuelian Liangdian Dongsi Creative Park (hereinafter called ”XLLD“). It is a space full of stories from its former self, the Sanyou Mall. With memories of a few generations recording the development of Beijing. After the renovation, XLLD not only kept some of the original characters of Sanyou, but also became one of the few garden offices in the city center and a new benchmark for human centric creative space.
New life and vitality via simple design language throughout the renovation of XLLD being transformed into a welcoming and relaxed office lounge.
"The visual presentation and lighting design details of commercial store”
Lily Li took 6 completed DELVAUX stores in China and PAGEONE Wudaokou to discuss around the theme of the event.
DELVAUX
DELVAUX was created in Brussels by the innovative Charles Delvaux in 1829. DELVAUX still remains at the forefront of luxury leather goods for its savoir-faire for putting uncompromising craftsmanship and outstanding quality into its products.
VUDAFIERI-SAVERINO PARTNERS completed the boutique's interior design with the lighting design to support DELVAUX brand story and the positioning of its boutiques by creating a unique shopping experience. LDPi deeply appreciates the opportunity to work with such a brilliant team in a long term for DELVAUX’s projects.
From the perspective of the synergy between illuminance and color temperature, this sharing focused on analyzing the relationship between the two. Lily mentioned that “only talking about cold and warm without talking about illuminance is nondual, only talking about light and dark without talking about color temperature is nondual” and extended the topic to the selection of lights, the texture of the light-emitting surface and the project site experience, etc.
In order to bring customers an exquisite shopping experience, LDPi used the principle of “shadowless light” to illuminate the leather goods from multiple angles during the design process. If the shadows cannot be completely offset, materials are used to ensure the shadows are symmetrical.
The design of the VIP room is particular. As a luxury brand, the VIP room of DELVAUX has the function of meeting guests with a seating area to make them relaxed when examining products in more details. Therefore, LDPi emphasized a dimmer overall lighting design yet with focus on products.
PAGE ONE Beijing Wudaokou
Since PAGE ONE opened stores in China, it has attracted many customers with its exquisite and professional books, design space, and high-quality services.
It is a pleasure that LDPi could take a part in the project of a popular brand and work with OFFICE AIO to complete this project together.
At the beginning of this project, the design team made site surveys of Beijing bookstores. In the schematic design, LDPi gave the positioning of the PAGE ONE Beijing Wudaokou store to be quiet but lively and welcoming. Taking advantage of the clean interior ceiling design LDPi chose to reduce the number of down lights in the ceiling to keep a clean space to build up a peaceful enjoyment for readers.
Several rounds of mock-ups involving the shelves’ manufacturer and the lighting manufacturer were necessary to select the optimal lighting effects. It is a pity that due to some resistance in the final landing process, the effect of the cabinet without light scallops could not be 100% achieved in the end.
As a designer, one must not only know how to design, but also how to use lights appropriately. Only in this way can express the design through details, and finally realize the emotional connection between light and people.
Joella Lanzo, Senior Lighting Designer and Design Director of Liquid Design also talked around the theme of “People Centered Lighting”
