Happy time is always short. In an instant, it is the last day of the 8th BEST Fund Shanghai Summer Camp. Children expressed their interest in colorful English classes, extracurricular entertainments and longing for more. In the afternoon of August 26th, 2016, the Liuba children participated in the Giraffe English Traning Center graduation ceremony.

The Liuba students prepared their “Way to Camptopia” graduation performances carefully. A group of energetic angels exerted their creativity and rich expressive power to show their learning results, and submitted a beautiful answer sheet for their efforts.

The well-prepared show is finally performed to everyone! But the end of the children's performance also meant it was time to say goodbye to the foreign teachers and the Giraffe English Traninig Center. After being together for a month, children and the teachers reluctantly said goodbye to each other while revealing their true feelings and they will never forget the teachers’ kind repeated exhortion.
Members of the BEST Fund are very pleased of the numerous achievements of this summer camp: children have the courage to show their talents, win applause with their rich expressions, overcome communication difficulties, talk with international friends only in English, build self-confidence, do things independently, open their mind, make creative work….
For daily life, BEST Fund has prepared comfortable accomodation, delicious meals, and various weekend activities. At the Giraffe English Traning Cener, teachers use rich teaching aids and reality shows to strengthen the educational content. Children are often been brought in scenario, and feel that the class is not long enough. These excellent students deserve the best.

The BEST Fund has supported children in Liuba Mountain, a poor county in Shaanxi Province to live and study in big city for eight continuous years. In these eight years, we have seen that these children grow and work hard to gain excellent achievements. In 2017, we will return to Liuba and continue this loving cause.
Q: What is the BEST Fund?
A: The BEST Fund started in June 2009. Tewa Srilaklang (chairwoman of the Beijing Liang Dian Design Center), Tang Zhi (chairman of Shanghai Giraffe English Training Center), and Dominique Phommahaxay, general manager of LDPi Lighting Design Partnership International (China Branch) teamed up with primary schools in Liuba County, Shaanxi Province to annually select outstanding students in financially challenged rural area and send them to the Giraffe English Training Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai for a unique 1-month summer camp. This self-organized public welfare education project has also received great attention and support from the Liuba County Education and Sports Bureau.
