August 20th, 2016, Explore the wonders and mysteries of the marine world
One week of English lessons is over, and the golden weekend time shouldn't be lost. Last week, the children felt the cuteness of the small animals in the zoo. This time, BEST Fund volunteer Ms. Shen, will take the children to the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium (Asia's No. 1 aquarium) explore the wonders and mysteries of the marine world.
The 150-meter-long underwater tunnel is surrounded by various marine organisms, and the children were all amazed by everything in front of them. It’s the first time they saw a variety of rare marine organisms such as jellyfish, poison dart frog, ocean sunfish, Phycodurus eques, Aptenodytes forsteri, Lates calcarifer and other rare marine life. These curious children were eager to know more about these mysterious creatures. Fortunately, they have Ms. Shen who could comment on this aquarium exploration tourand introduce these rare marine creatures. While satisfying their curiosity, the children also learned a lot of marine knowledge, and this was really a worthwhile trip.

We visited the aquarium accompanied by “sister” Shen. When we arrived, she had already bought tickets for everyone. We knew the magical marine animals, which impressed everyone. The deepest impression was from the various jellyfishes and the 150-meter-long undersea tunnel. It made us feel awesome to be like standing at the bottom of the sea! I forgot to tell you that “sister” Shen is still our volunteer guide. It's time to say goodbye this weekend, and the children are about to complete their one-month summer camp in Shanghai. These days, they have worked hard and seriously, like warm little angels, infected everyone around them with smile.

A: The BEST Fund started in June 2009. Tewa Srilaklang (chairwoman of the Beijing Liang Dian Design Center), Tang Zhi (chairman of Shanghai Giraffe English Training Center), and Dominique Phommahaxay, general manager of LDPi Lighting Design Partnership International (China Branch) teamed up with primary schools in Liuba County, Shaanxi Province to annually select outstanding students in financially challenged rural area and send them to the Giraffe English Training Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai for a unique 1-month summer camp. This self-organized public welfare education project has also received great attention and support from the Liuba County Education and Sports Bureau.
