On August 12th, 2017, the Liuba students ended the wonderful Crazy Week, and greeted the most anticipated day, the Dream Discovery Tour, the trip to Shanghai Disneyland. The Disneyland is a fantasy world that children in the mountains had never seen before, lighting up their long-awaited gorgeous dreams. Here, everyone was shocked and infected by thrilling and entertaining rides with infinite imagination. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed themselves under the leadership of the BEST Fund volunteer, “brother” Lin Mu.
So far, children have gone through more than half of their journey of the 9th BEST Fund Summer Camp. Their English ability has made a qualitative leap, and their ability to manage themselves has been greatly improved. Furthermore, they have increased their confidence, happiness and friendship. This made the efforts from the BEST Fund team more meaningful.
Q: What is the BEST Fund?
A: The BEST Fund started in June 2009. Tewa Srilaklang (chairwoman of the Beijing Liang Dian Design Center), Tang Zhi (chairman of Shanghai Giraffe English Training Center), and Dominique Phommahaxay, general manager of LDPi Lighting Design Partnership International (China Branch) teamed up with primary schools in Liuba County, Shaanxi Province to annually select outstanding students in financially challenged rural area and send them to the Giraffe English Training Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai for a unique 1-month summer camp. This self-organized public welfare education project has also received great attention and support from the Liuba County Education and Sports Bureau.
