On July 30th, 2016, after crossing green mountains and clear rivers, eight children and two teachers from Madao Central Primary School, Liuba County, Shaanxi Province, arrived in Shanghai. The scene of the bustling city deeply attracts the simple children from the mountains. The dream of coming to study in a big city has finally come true, and the joy in everyone's heart is self-evident.
It was not a very long wait, just about over a month, but it has become a long-term expectation in the hearts of children. Now their dream became true, they finally arrived to the dream city to study in a first-class children's English school. Just as the philosophy of the BEST Fund has always been: to give the best to the best children. Let them have this rare learning experience in their splendid season.

Before the children’s arrival, we carefully selected a place for them to live and study in Shanghai. In order to make children's life and study more comfortably, a nanny was arranged to take care of the children.

On July 31st, 2016, the children attended a well-prepared welcome party of Shanghai Giraffe English Training Center. Everyone generously introduced themselves and showed their best side to everyone. The atmosphere was very relaxed and active.

On August 1st, 2016, the BEST Fund Summer Camp officially started. During the opening ceremony, the inspiring slogan rang through the lobby. The teachers waved the team flag and the children were wearing camouflage hats and green scarves which looked like particularly high spirit.

The children's first day already started. They were all very excited and very adaptable. What kind of interaction will they have with this city next? Our editor will follow up.
According to Ms. Yu Bing (Liang Dian Design Center ): "It was a very hot noon when the children arrived in Shanghai. They were so excited and couldn’t wait to go out without a nap. So I became a volunteer at the first weekend and took them to the Qian Xuesen Library near the school in which was cooler than outside. As it was the first time they took the subway, I repeatedly reminded them to be careful and let them learn to take care of each other. I didn’t know how much the children would listen while they were excited. They were still young. With their outstanding performance, they were selected from the mountains and came to Shanghai to learn in the best and most advanced children's English school. They were naturally excited and had only this wonderful fresh world in their eyes. But have they ever looked back to see how many people have contributed for them silently to their little dreams?”

BEST Fund Summer Camp Weekend Arrangement
The BEST Fund Summer Camp will end on August 26th,2016, except the four-week study, we also arranged three tours for them: every Saturday, the children will be led by volunteers Ms. Shen, Mr. Carlos Gonzalez and Mr. Xu Qing to respectively visit the Shanghai Nature museum, Shanghai Zoo and Shanghai Aquarium to see the world together and expand their horizons.
Q: What is the BEST Fund?
A: The BEST Fund started in June 2009. Tewa Srilaklang (chairwoman of the Beijing Liang Dian Design Center), Tang Zhi (chairman of Shanghai Giraffe English Training Center), and Dominique Phommahaxay, general manager of LDPi Lighting Design Partnership International (China Branch) teamed up with primary schools in Liuba County, Shaanxi Province to annually select outstanding students in financially challenged rural area and send them to the Giraffe English Training Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai for a unique 1-month summer camp. This self-organized public welfare education project has also received great attention and support from the Liuba County Education and Sports Bureau.
